Health and Safety Policy

Union Leisurewear is committed to the development and promotion of safe working practices amongst all employees to safeguard the welfare of both employees and the general public. . Action will be taken wherever appropriate to ensure that all aspects of this policy are recognisable in our operations.

PRINCIPLES Union Leisurewear is committed to improving the safety of all operations undertaken by employees. This includes operations which may affect the general public and particular care is to be paid to the safety of sub-contractors and their staff. The co-operation of all employees is necessary to provide a safe working environment and this policy can only be successful if all staff accept that providing a safe environment is both a management and a staff responsibility. All employees have a right of access to senior staff to discuss Health and Safety issues at any time. Health and Safety is to be a standing item on all company discussion and Board Meetings. All Employees will be consulted in Health and Safety issues that affect them and are expected to contribute actively to the process of improving Health and Safety at work. The implementation of Health and Safety policies and procedures is the joint responsibility of Partners. The Partners are responsible for: · Reporting investigations. · Fire precautions, fire drill and any necessary evacuation procedures. · Safety inspections/training · Ensuring that the legal requirements of Health and Safety are met. · Any other Health and Safety related activities.

PRACTICES Specific programmes will include the following where appropriate: · Adequate maintenance of all equipment and plant such that it is safe and useable. · Adequate maintenance and proper use of all personal protective equipment such that it is used properly and is in a safe and useable condition. · Regular testing and maintenance of critical items of equipment and safe methods of using such equipment. · Maintenance of all electrical installations and equipment. · Safe storage, handling and, where applicable, packaging, labelling and transport of dangerous substances or substances likely to be hazardous to health. · Controls on all work involving harmful substances. · Consultation with the workforce before the introduction of new plant or substances. · Reduction of the noise level wherever possible and designation of noisy areas as 'noise control areas' where the wearing of hearing protection is mandatory. · Control of entry to hazardous areas. · All manual handing is to be minimised and safe practices used when lifting or moving any product or item of equipment. · Fire exits are to be marked and kept clear of obstruction. · First aid cover is to be available at all times. · Provision of training, supervision and communication to all employees to enable safe working at all times.

Environmental Policy

Union Leisurewear is committed to the development and promotion of products, processes and services to reduce waste and encourage recycling, and to adopt environmentally responsible policies and practices throughout our operations. Action will be taken wherever appropriate to ensure that all aspects of this policy are recognisable in our operations.

PRINCIPLES Union Leisurewear is committed to improving the environment through the products, processes and services which we offer and to providing these in a manner which protects human health and the environment. We will strive to operate in a manner designed to minimise, and where reasonably possible eliminate releases to air, land or water in amounts that cause harm to human health and the environment. We will focus on safe technologies and operating practices. We will encourage our customers and suppliers to develop and apply environmentally favourable solutions and assist them to assess and remedy environmental concerns. We will provide information and will assist employees, customers, government and other interest groups to understand the impact of our operations on the environment. We will exercise all due care in the disposal of waste produced by our activities and we will develop plans and actions to reduce waste, including the encouragement of recycling and the beneficial re-use of waste. We will train our employees to enhance understanding of our environmental policies and to promote excellence in job performance on all environmental matters.

PRACTICES Specific programmes will include the following where appropriate: · Full compliance with all permits and regulations concerning monitoring of air, water and noise emissions with corrective action where necessary to protect employees and the community from emissions which are harmful or cause nuisance. · Full compliance with all permits and regulations concerning monitoring of 'in-house' working practices, noise control and air quality with corrective action where necessary in order minimise employee contact with harmful substances and excessive noise levels. · The support of employee's awareness of environmental issues through the installation of company based programmes such as the use of recycled paper, can recycling, non-ozone depleting chemicals, lead free or diesel powered cars. Employee feedback and suggestions and the exchange of ideas will be encouraged. · Steps should be taken to reduce or eliminate waste generation at every stage of our operations where appropriate. · The promotion and use of recyclable materials or processes which generate recyclable materials. · Where waste arises which cannot be recycled on site, only reputable and fully authorised waste disposal contractors are to be employed to transport and dispose of the waste. · Reduction in energy consumption in offices and sites through sound energy conservation practices. · Communication with employees and any community groups concerning the environmental impact of any of our operations.

Quality Policy and Objectives

It is our policy to actively and continuously improve the quality of our products, processes and service in order to satisfy the expectations and aspirations of customers, suppliers, and employees. The objectives of the quality system are: a. To continuously improve the quality of our products and services. b. To reduce quality costs and waste. c. Union Leisurewear, it's associated companies and suppliers do not employ child labour of any kind and are guided by country and international law and supports UNICEF and the ILO in it's work.
